Jared- Apprentice To the Principalship

Hi, I’m Jared and I work in the Principalship Department at Tameside College. I am currently working as a Level 2 Business and Administration Apprentice. My day to day jobs involve general administration in the department such as organising bookings for meeting rooms, taking down minutes in meetings and assisting with the organisation of events at the College. My favourite part of the course is working alongside colleagues in a way that contributes to the smooth running of the administrative side of the department and I get to meet new people all the time. Being able to meet new people on a regular basis has helped me develop good communication, organisation and teamwork skills.

I chose an Apprenticeship here at the College because I wanted to be in an environment that would provide me with the skills and experience that would be crucial for me in later life. An Apprenticeship gives me this opportunity and allows me to earn while I learn and it has set me up for future employment. Once I have completed my Level 2 Apprenticeship I want to move on to a Level 3 Apprenticeship and then hopefully gain full time employment here at the College.

My advice for anyone looking to become an apprentice is, be prepared to try new things, If you attempt to do more, your skills will improve massively. Also, do not be afraid to ask for help because those who you work with will be able to help you improve.

Jared’s manager said “Jared has established himself well within the Principalship Department and has become a confident and competent member of the team.  He has learned a number of tasks since starting with the department and has gained valuable experience in dealing with people and customers at all levels, and in confidence, which will help him immensely in his future career choice."
